“The assessment day was great fun and the team at Motorsport UK are very friendly and welcoming. The opportunity to have a go on track and be encouraged to push the car to the limit was fantastic.”
In partnership with Loughborough Car Club, the StreetCar Disabled Driver Scholarship was introduced on the 11th of May 2024 running one assessment day.
This year, the Motorsport UK StreetCar initiative are organising three Disabled Drivers Assessment Days in three different locations, each with their own winners.
Kent – 19th April – Maidstone and Mid Kent Motor Club
Norfolk – 27th April – Sporting Car Club of Norfolk
Leicestershire – 23rd May 2025 – Loughborough Car Club
This scheme offers a number of disabled drivers the opportunity to experience an AutoSOLO in adapted cars.
The winners of the StreetCar Disabled Driver Scholarship will be decided by a panel of judges. The candidates are not assessed on speed and skill but based on a number of different factors such as; commitment, progress, attitude, etc.
The winners of the Scholarship will be awarded:
• A fully funded season of AutoSOLOs/Autotests at a participating StreetCar club
• Access to one of the adapted vehicles to compete in events in the local area of the club

“This was the my first time trying anything Motorsport wise, and I loved every second of it, look forward to the future events.”
“The assessment day was the most fun I’ve had on four wheels in a long time. It was great to be around like-minded people. Disability wasn’t a factor during the day, it was all about the driving. Talk about levelling the playing field. We’re all the same behind the wheel. I’m really excited about the scholarship and can’t wait to be involved in grass roots motorsport.”
“Having only recently been forced into using a wheelchair going out and about has been daunting … From the moment I arrived, my anxiety lifted as everyone who I met, be it Motorsport UK staff, car club instructors, marshals and competitors were so friendly and supportive. The day was amazing, the weather was perfect. I had great fun learning a new form of motorsport which really is available to everyone. Grassroots motorsports really is the heart of motorsport & thank you Motorsport UK for putting your trust in me for this season.”
