StreetCar Festival Review
With the inaugural StreetCar Festival coming to a close on 8 September 2024, we look back on the groundbreaking event. The StreetCar Festival was created to provide a single day to celebrate grassroots motorsport and provide a platform for newcomers to get involved and experience a wide range of motorsport disciplines. Here are the highlights from the inaugural StreetCar Festival:
A sold out AutoSOLO. 30 novices signed up to take on the StreetCar Festival AutoSOLO Taster and left with a new passion for motorsport. Oxford Motor Club took on the organisation of the AutoSOLO Taster and managed to put on an exciting and seamless event for all the competitors. After an exhilarating day, a number of the competitors have already caught the motorsport bug, signing up for the Oxford Motor Club AutoSOLO at Shenington on 13 October.
The first StreetCar Festival Club Challenge! In its first running, the StreetCar Festival brought together 15 StreetCar Clubs in both the organisation and competing. The Club Challenge AutoSOLO encouraged StreetCar Clubs across the UK to send their best AutoSOLO competitors down to the StreetCar Festival to challenge for the title of StreetCar Festival Club Challenge Champion. As some of the best AutoSOLO competitors across the country travelled down to compete at the StreetCar Festival, what followed was a day of fierce competition. With tenths of seconds separating the top three competitors, it all came down to the final run of the day. With it all on the line, Oliver Michaels put in a 32.7s to secure the win for Mid-Derbyshire Motor Club.
A Tour to remember! South Oxon Car Club led the way in the organisation of the StreetCar Festival Touring Assembly and produced a fantastic route for all to enjoy. With each participating car decorated with a 2024 StreetCar Festival Rally Plate, the Tour was waved off for its 50-mile route of the scenic Oxfordshire roads. Using the easy-to-use tulip diagram route book, each car successfully navigated their way back to the Bicester Heritage site.
With the first StreetCar Festival coming to an end, watch out as we gear up for a bigger and better celebration of grassroots motorsport in 2025! In the meantime, to begin your motorsport journey and find out more about the StreetCar Club scene, submit your ‘get started’ form here.
