As summer draws to a close, Motorsport UK’s StreetCar Festival has already brought grassroots motorsport to communities across Scotland, England and Wales. The series has showcased the breadth of accessible club motorsport, from Dundee for the FIA Eco Rally Scotland, to the Car Club Festival in Malvern, and the BARC Wales Sprint Championship. At each stop, visitors have been able to see first-hand how easy it can be to get involved using an everyday road car, with opportunities to meet local clubs, speak to experienced volunteers and learn more about beginner-friendly disciplines including AutoSOLOs, Autotests and Touring Assemblies.

Across the three nations, the festivals have helped demonstrate that motorsport is not only about purpose-built competition cars or specialist experience. Whether attendees were completely new to the sport, returning after time away, or looking for a local club to join, the StreetCar team and host clubs have been on hand to explain the simple steps into grassroots competition and highlight the friendly community behind every event.

There is now just one stop left on this year’s StreetCar Festival calendar: StreetCar Festival Northern Ireland, taking place on 26 September at Kirkistown Circuit as a part of the End of Season Car Race Meeting. Visitors can look forward to a packed day of racing, the chance to meet the StreetCar team and local motor clubs, and AutoSOLO passenger rides with volunteers from the Thoroughbred Sports Car Club. It promises to be a brilliant opportunity to experience the atmosphere of club motorsport, ask questions, and find out how an everyday car could open the door to taking part.
