Club Together – Weald Motor Club
If you’re looking to get involved in StreetCar, chances are that Weald Motor Club will have an event for you! For this month’s Club Together, we take you over to Kent to highlight an umbrella StreetCar Club who have implemented an innovative concept to bring new blood into the sport!
Weald are infamous for their expertise in organising 12 Car rallies, which is why they have created a new program tailored for beginners, to run alongside their 12 Car championship. Weald have introduced the Beginners Rally School to ease newcomers into the exciting world of rallying.
The school kicked off its first session with a successful evening, expertly organised by Weald member club, Blackpalfrey Motor Club. Nine complete novices turned up for the first session at the Newham Court Inn unsure on what to expect. They were met by a welcoming Club, dedicated to guiding them through the process of competing in a 12 car for the first time. Each beginner was accompanied by an expert driver and navigator as they attempted to navigate a 15-mile route in a non-competitive, untimed environment.
All crews successfully made it around the route, visiting the four manned controls and returning to the meeting point for a debrief and a question answer session. All crews left with a seamless introduction into grassroots motorsport and an invaluable experience navigating a 12 Car for the first time.
With the Beginners Rally School being completely free to all, this is the perfect opportunity to get started in rallying. The next session will run on the 30th of October, so visit the Weald Motor Club website to find out how you can get involved.
If you’re not based in the Kent area and are waiting to break into motorsport, wait no further, submit your ‘get started’ form here and begin your motorsport journey!
