The first student-led StreetCar Club
Oxford Universities Motorsport Foundation (OUMF) have become the first student-led motor Club to sign up to the StreetCar charter. With the help of OUMF, StreetCar will be able to further showcase the different avenues that students can take to get started in motorsport.
To kick off their new affiliation with the StreetCar campaign, OUMF held their very own table top rally to teach basic navigation skills to a whole new crop of Club members in preparation for their heavily anticipated 12 car rally! The event ran seamlessly with plenty of new students being introduced to grassroots motorsport for the first time and leaving with a new passion for rally navigation.
Current OUMF President, Oliver Raja-Brown reflects on the benefits of competing in StreetCar:
“The opportunity for students to have the chance to drive their own car and experience how the mechanics affects the handling, be it a Twelve Car Rally or a Scatter Rally, it really allows for a deeper understanding of how it affects the car’s dynamics”
With motorsport at the heart of all the Club members, becoming a StreetCar Club has highlighted their commitment to encouraging newcomers into the sport and incentivised OUMF to expand their motorsport activities in the new year. Oliver goes on to say:
“We are hoping to do more events this year, so the opportunity to join StreetCar will highlight other opportunities alongside engineering, that every petrol head really wants to do!”
With big plans for the year ahead, OUMF are leading the way in motorsport for university students across the country, and showing just how easy it can be for students to begin competing.
