Club Together – Ilkley and District Motor Club 

As the chequered flag falls on the StreetCar British EcoRally, this month’s Club Together highlights the club that proudly hosted the final round: Ilkley & District Motor Club (IDMC). 

Founded back in 1910, IDMC has been championing accessible motorsport for well over a century. A growing supporter of the StreetCar initiative, the club runs a varied calendar of grassroots events, many of which are perfectly suited to everyday road cars. Their commitment to welcoming newcomers and lowering barriers to entry echoes StreetCar’s mission to make motorsport more inclusive for all. 

With more than 100 years of motorsport heritage, IDMC boasts an impressive breadth of knowledge across multiple grassroots disciplines. Yet the club is far from standing still. Always open to new ideas and ways to grow the sport, in 2025, the club made headlines by taking on a brand-new challenge: organising an event in the StreetCar British EcoRally – the first event of its kind. Using their experience in 12 Car Rallying, IDMC created an innovative, engaging rally designed specifically for electric road cars, proving that sustainable and competitive driving can go hand in hand. 

IDMC continues to celebrate the events that have long been member favourites. Popular fixtures like the Jubilee Historic and Targa Rally and the Skipton Trophy remain key highlights, drawing competitors from across the region and beyond. The Club also have an exciting summer planned this year with several Club events including three Autotests and three Car Trials.
