The Southern Car Club StreetCar Class of 2024
In 2024, Southern Car Club introduced 10 newcomers to grassroots motorsport during their Thruxton AutoSOLO event, held as part of National Motorsport Week. The Class of ’24 have since embraced the thrill of motorsport, competing across various disciplines.
One standout is Lesley Knowles, who found StreetCar while seeking a way to get involved. After submitting her ‘Get Started’ form, she was invited to compete at the Thruxton AutoSOLO in July 2024. Since then, Lesley has progressed to her first 12 Car Rally.

Lesley says, “The beauty of StreetCar is there’s a lot of fun to be had – and you can push your own car to see what it can really do.”
George Buckley also began his motorsport adventure at the Thruxton AutoSOLO after discovering the StreetCar campaign. Inspired by the opportunity, he submitted his ‘Get Started’ form and was soon on the tarmac at his very first event.
George shared, “Entering motorsport through StreetCar has really opened the door to what I could do in the future. I like cars in general, so just getting to drive my car a bit faster is good fun.”

Over the past year, George has taken part in several events and broadened his motorsport experience. His journey reached an exciting milestone when he co-drove in his first Stage Rally, with Southern Car Club Co-chairman, Andrew Hebron.
Southern Car Club hosts affordable, exciting motorsport events throughout the year, using everyday road cars. They have already hosted their first AutoSOLO of the year, with a further 13 novices introduced to the sport. The Club are now gearing up for their next event on 22nd June, so whether you’re new to motorsport or looking to take the next step, this is your chance to get involved.
