If you are familiar with the British Hill Climb Championship, then you will have no doubt heard of Scott Moran. Son of 1997 champion Roger, Scott himself is a 6-time British Championship winner and the most successful driver of all time in terms of Run-Off victories. Having stepped back from competing full-time at the end of 2024, he decided that it’s time to start turning his attention towards the next generation.
Scott’s son Ollie is 15 years old and has taken the first steps in his motorsport career in 2025, competing in StreetCar AutoSOLO’s with Cannock and District Car Club.
Scott commented “Ollie has been coming along with me to Hill Climbs for his whole life and has been itching to get behind the wheel for ages. Naturally he wants to go Hill Climbing, but AutoSOLO’s have proven to be a great way to get started learning the basics of car control in a safe environment at such a young age. I have been sharing the car with him too which adds a nice element of competition between both of us!”
The car of choice for Ollie and Scott is a Skoda Fabia, which set them back just a few hundred pounds! Coupled with a free RS Clubman licence, this is one of the most affordable routes into Motorsport available.
Ollie recently picked up his first piece of silverware, finishing 2nd Junior at the Get it Sideways StreetCar AutoSOLO at Curborough Sprint Course. “Hopefully the first of many!” said Ollie.
