StreetCar rounds off summer festival season in Northern Ireland

The Motorsport UK StreetCar team headed to Northern Ireland at the end of September for the final StreetCar Festival of the summer, bringing together local clubs, drivers and enthusiasts for a weekend of grassroots motorsport.

Designed to make motorsport more accessible, StreetCar offers a welcoming and affordable way to get involved, with everyday road cars and beginner-friendly events providing an opportunity to experience the sport first-hand.

The festival saw 21 cars take part in the autoSOLO, with a further 20 passengers enjoying the experience from the passenger seat.

The autoSOLO gave drivers the chance to put their car control, accuracy and consistency to the test in a safe and supportive environment. For passengers, it was an opportunity to discover just how much fun motorsport can offer in a standard road car with minimal preparation.

Adding to the weekend’s activities, Norn Iron Classic Minis and the Autotest Drivers Club organised a touring assembly through Newtownards to the racing circuit, with 36 participants taking part.

The touring assembly highlighted another side of StreetCar, bringing local enthusiasts together through a shared passion for cars and offering an enjoyable way to get involved beyond competition. From classic Minis to everyday road cars, the variety of vehicles reflected the welcoming and inclusive nature of the programme.

The Northern Ireland festival was a fitting way to round off the summer, showcasing the opportunities StreetCar offers for people to try motorsport, build confidence and connect with their local motorsport community.

A big thank you to the organising clubs, volunteers and everyone who took part, whether behind the wheel, navigating or enjoying the experience as a passenger.
