Grassroots motorsport is entry-level, accessible and affordable motorsport that focuses on participation, enjoyment, as well as competition. It’s a welcoming way to experience motorsport using everyday vehicles.
A free Motorsport UK licence (called an RS Clubman licence) is required to take part in StreetCar grassroots motorsport events. It’s free and ensures all participants are covered under event regulations and Public Liability insurance. You can upgrade your RS Clubman Licence to include Personal Accident insurance and further member benefits for the price of £21.99 here.

Motorsport UK will connect you with your local Car Club if you submit your details on our ‘Ready to Get Started?’ form below. Your local Car Club will then get in touch directly to share information about events they have coming up, and answer any questions you may have about getting started in motorsport.
Before you can compete don’t forget to apply for your FREE motorsport licence from Motorsport UK (called an RS Clubman Licence), which comes with a host of member benefits including Public Liability insurance.
Then all that’s left to do, is to get out there and have some fun in your everyday road car!

Anyone with access to a roadworthy car and a free motorsport licence can take part. There’s fun for all the family too, as you can even compete in an AutoSOLO, or Production Car Autotest from the age of 14, or Cross Country Tyro from age 13.
Plus, you can be a front seat passenger from age 12 in an AutoSOLO, Production Car AutoTest, Car Trial and Cross Country Tyro.

Yes! Many events are open to spectators, and some clubs offer roles for volunteers or opportunities for others to participate in on the day. It’s a sociable and supportive environment for newcomers and their families.
A StreetCar Festival is a fun filled, family-friendly, day of motorsport taking place within existing motorsport festivals around the country across the summer. They offer a chance to find out what StreetCar is all about, and most importantly have a go yourself by trying out one of the many StreetCar disciplines on offer on the day.
