The StreetCar British EcoRally is an exciting new initiative for 2025, aiming to introduce Electric and Hybrid vehicles to the exciting world of 12-Car Rallying!

In 2024 Scottish Motor Racing Club organised EcoRally Scotland as a candidate event for the Bridgestone FIA Eco Rally Cup. After a successful application, for 2025 EcoRally Scotland has become part of the Bridgestone FIA Eco Rally Cup series!

To support EcoRally Scotland, five StreetCar Clubs across the UK will host a 12-Car Rally, which will act as an event in the StreetCar British EcoRally.

The winner of each event will receive a £100 discount off their entry to EcoRally Scotland on 26th and 27th of July.

What is a 12-Car Rally?

A 12-Car is a Navigational Rally limited to 12 vehicles. Competitors participate in a team of two, a driver and a navigator. Crews are required to locate route checks, navigate a route and time controls, whilst maintaining a time schedule.

What licence do I need to compete?

As for all StreetCar events, all you need to take part in the StreetCar British EcoRally is a free RS Clubman Licence! Find out how you can apply for your RS Clubman Licence below.

What are the age requirements?

To take part in a Navigational Rally, the driver is required to be at least 17 years of age with a valid RTA Licence. The minimum age to navigate on a 12-Car Rally is 12 years of age.

Compete against the clock

An AutoSOLO or Autotest is a test of your precision and car control, with slalom sections and longer turns. The aim is to complete the course in the correct direction, as quickly and accurately as possible.

Compete against the course

Taking place on private land, Car Trials usually cover challenging terrain in a 2 wheel drive car, with hills, mud, or other obstacles. The aim is to get from the start line to the finish line without stopping. Speeds are low and there is no time limit, but momentum must be maintained in a forward motion in the direction of the course.

Compete against the course 4x4

Cross Country Tyros require drivers to negotiate the set course without hitting a marker and without stopping. A Tyro requires a 4 x 4 vehicle to tackle the testing terrains – though courses are planned to prevent damage to the cars.

Rally together

There are many types of rallying from non-competitive Touring Assemblies to 12 Cars. Put your navigation and collaboration to the test.

Whilst the heritage of the Club remains, Southern Car Club have embraced change and enjoyed remarkable growth in recent years. Don’t miss out! It’s one month to go until Motorsport UK's StreetCar Festival heads to the iconic Knockhill Circuit on 27 September, with motorsport and activities that the entire family can enjoy. Our Scottish Festival is the final event in our StreetCar calendar, providing the opportunity for drivers to try out a range of motorsport disciplines behind the wheel of their standard unmodified road car.

For this month’s club together we highlight one of our Scottish StreetCar Clubs in the heart of Fife. Glenrothes Motor Club host a range of affordable events from AutoSOLOs and Navigational Rallies, perfect for your everyday road car.

Touring into Motorsport

North Wales Car Club hosted the Touring Assembly at the StreetCar Festival Wales, which a fun and affordable way to get into motorsport in your everyday road car. L-time club member Dave V Thomas (DVT) used his experience of running various rallies and navigational runs to put together this tour suitable for newcomers.

For just a modest fee, participants can test their skills in a safe, controlled environment, learning precision and car control without the need for high-speed circuits or expensive machinery.
