In celebration of National Motorsport Week, Knutsford & District Motor Club (KDMC) hosted a free-to-enter Motorsport Taster Day, aimed at encouraging newcomers to try grassroots motorsport using their everyday road cars. The event was a fantastic success, drawing over 32 participants, many of which were experiencing motorsport for the first time. With a friendly atmosphere and plenty of smiling faces, seven attendees even signed up as full club members by the end of the day.
KDMC continues to lead by example with their innovative and welcoming approach, showcasing how accessible motorsport can be. The club runs a full calendar of events throughout the year, including popular AutoSOLOs, Autotests, the much-loved Tour of Cheshire, Knutsford Targa Rally and the Plains Rally. Beyond their own events, they also play a major role in supporting organisers and marshalling on events across the UK, such as Rali Ceredigion.
Club Chair, Mike Lawson explained that the Taster Day was part of KDMC’s mission to introduce new people to the sport they love: “This was Knutsford’s first attempt at a Taster Event, and we were really pleased with the outcome. Approximately fifty people visited in some way, and we even had seven new members join the club on the day. A great reward for all the effort and hard work put in by the members!”
