Based in North Wales, Clwyd Vale Motor Club have 256 members and have run 16 events this year including Targa Rallies, Road Rallies, Car Trials and AutoSOLOs, which are enjoyed by many. They also care for the wider community by raising money for charity alongside their events and activities.
The Club has a long tradition of annually selecting a charity to support throughout the season. In past years funds have been raised for Prostate Cancer UK, The Brain Tumour Charity and Gareth Roberts Memorial Fund.
In late 2023 the Clubs committee decided that for 2024 and 2025 the fundraising would be for the benefit of two local hospices, with the money raised being split equally. The first being Nightingale House Hospice, Wrexham and the second being St Kentigern Hospice, St Asaph who both provide specialist palliative care.
In January this year they presented cheques for £1,000 to Nightingale House Hospice and St Kentigern Hospice. Clwyd Vale Motor Club said “We always try and support local charities as we feel it’s good to give back to the local area that allow us to run our events within their communities. Both these hospices do phenomenal work with very little government funding, and several club members have, sadly, had family/friends who have had the need to use these charities”.
These funds had been collected and raised during 2024 through:
We asked Clwyd Vale what advice they would offer to other Clubs considering a similar initiative; “It gives us a great deal of pride to be able to say that a sport we both love and enjoy allows us to donate a reasonable amount of money to good causes, if you can then it’s a great thing to do with very little effort required.”
Clwyd Vale Motor Club have turned the successes in their Club activities to help the wider community highlighting their compassion and dedication to support worthy local hospices.
