Disabled Driver Scholarship to Continue in 2026

Created by Loughborough Car Club in partnership with Motorsport UK, the scholarship aims to make the sport more accessible for disabled participants, drawing on the success of the StreetCar initiative – celebrating grassroots motorsport opportunities for all.

Three Clubs are given the use of an adapted Yaris each for the year and host an assessment day to decide on a winner. The prize is access to the car with free AutoSOLO entries for an entire season.

Loughborough Car Club, Maidstone and Mid Kent Motor Club and the Sporting Car Club of Norfolk have hosted the Scholarship for the past year, and Loughborough will continue to do so for 2026.

Two new Clubs will be taking the Scholarship on as MMKMC and SCCON take a well-earned break. Bristol Motor Club will be the first new Club, with the next to be announced soon.

How the scholarship works:

  • You can register your interest in the Scholarship now! The link can be found at the end of this article.
  • We will then contact you and share the dates and locations of the assessment days. The assessment day allows individuals to get a taste of an AutoSOLO in an adapted vehicle and meet Club competitors and volunteers to learn about what it’s like to participate with the Club.
  • Two drivers will be chosen from each assessment day. The winners of the StreetCar Disabled Driver Scholarship will be decided by a panel of judges, the candidates are not assessed on speed and skill but based on several different factors such as; commitment, progress, attitude, etc.
  • The six overall winners will get a fully funded season of AutoSOLOs/Autotests at a participating car Club using the adapted Yaris.

The scholarship was once again a great success in 2025, and Maidstone and Mid Kent winner Gary said “Being in a car is my favourite place to be, and behind the wheel on track is just the best fun ever – especially with a group of like-minded people who are even crazier than I am. It was great to be able to bring my son along and see him enjoying it too.”
