How to get your family involved in StreetCar 

With so many disciplines on offer, it can be difficult knowing where to start, especially if you are looking to make it a family affair.

Enjoying grassroots motorsport around the UK is easier, and more affordable, than you might think. Motorsport UK’s StreetCar programme can help you, and the family, get involved – all you need to compete is your everyday road car.

Read on to find out just how easy it is to join your local motor club and get involved with StreetCar:

Find your discipline

Whether you want to compete with, or against your family, StreetCar has you covered.

Autotest – The perfect discipline if you’re looking for some family friendly competition. Junior drivers can be as young as 14 in an AutoSOLO, providing a great opportunity for the whole family to get involved. Autotest is a challenge against the clock = achieve the fastest time in the designated course for bragging rights at the dinner table!  

Rally – If you’re looking to work together as a team, the rally discipline is a great way to collaborate. The success of a rally team relies heavily on the cohesion between driver and navigator, so make use of that family bond to navigate your way to success.

Trials – Again, a great discipline to compete in as a family, work together to get as far as you can over some challenging terrain.

Cross Country – A discipline for all the family to compete in together. You can get behind the wheel at just 13 years of age, providing a great platform to teach car control in your everyday 4×4. Get a free RS Clubman licence

All you need to compete with StreetCar is a free RS Clubman licence. Encourage all the family to sign up online for their very first competition licence.  Get yours here.

Find your closest StreetCar Club

Submit your ‘get started’ form here to be matched with your local StreetCar Club, they will talk you through the process of getting out to your very first event. Our StreetCar clubs are excited to welcome you, and your family, and will help you find the right event.

Find a time to get out and compete

Balancing the different family schedules can be difficult, so look through your local StreetCar Clubs’ calendar of events, and decide which event suits your family best.
