StreetCar celebrates National Motorsport Week

From celebrating 111 incredible events to showcasing how to get involved, we hope you enjoyed the 2025 edition of National Motorsport Week.

Running from the 10 to the 20 July, the 10-day campaign saw our StreetCar Clubs deliver 30 events and continue to encourage new people into the sport.

National Motorsport Week provided the perfect opportunity to start your motorsport journey, with the Motorsport UK StreetCar team on the road visiting events across the country. Camel Vale Motor Club hosted their Autotest in the Southwest, where our team witnessed first-hand the buzzing Cornish motorsport community. The event was well attended, with entries from a range of competitors, from complete novices to experienced drivers.

Millie Daniel (24) was one of the first-time competitors who took the opportunity to get behind-the-wheel during National Motorsport Week. Keen to try something new, Millie took part in her very first Autotest in her everyday road car, showcasing how fun and accessible grassroots motorsport can be.

Millie summed up her experience saying, “The combination of needing to stay on course, keep the car under control whilst getting around as quickly as I could had me a bit nervous, but once we got going, I soon got the idea of it and had great fun – mistakes and all!”

Millie continues, “Everyone was happy to answer my queries and offer much-needed guidance, and I loved that the event is suited to ‘normal’ everyday cars with no specialist features or equipment required”

In the West Midlands, Cannock & District Car Club hosted the next round of their popular Wheelspin AutoSOLO Series. With a great mix of competitors, the event captured the spirit of National Motorsport Week as a host of novice drivers took to the tarmac in their everyday vehicles.

Among the newcomers was Nathaniel Dhoopun-O’Byrne, who was taking part in his first ever StreetCar event. Nathaniel joined Wolverhampton & South Staffordshire Motor Club back in 2023 after looking for a way to get involved in the sport. After attending several social events and volunteering with the club for two years, this National Motorsport Week event was the push he needed to get competing.

“I used to think I’d never be able to participate in an AutoSOLO, primarily due to cost. Following research, it turned out to be quite cheap” Nathaniel said.
He went on to have a successful debut, finishing 23rd overall in a very competitive field.

“It was a momentous event – cheap, fun, and a fantastic opportunity for networking. I loved the day and am already looking forward to my next event.”
With many StreetCar Clubs across the UK organising events every week, there’s plenty of opportunities to get involved and start your own motorsport journey – all in your everyday road car!
