StreetCar Disabled Driver Scholarship Winners
The first of its kind StreetCar Disabled Driver Scholarship, concluded on the 11th of May and yielded a total of four winners!
The Scholarship aimed to provide an exciting day of StreetCar competition to a number of disabled drivers, and was a huge success. 16 disabled motorsport enthusiasts battled it out for the first time in an AutoSOLO at Bicester Motion, a record number of participants! All those in attendance took home an incredible first experience, and a new found love for grassroots motorsport.
Not only was this the launch of a great initiative, but also an opportunity to showcase some new additions to the StreetCar fleet. As can be seen above, two Toyota Yaris’ have been adorned with the StreetCar livery, adapted to provide support for disabled drivers, and given their first run out at an AutoSOLO. These cars will now be available to each of the scholarship winners to compete in a full season of AutoSOLOs at their local StreetCar Club.
The four delighted winners of the Scholarship were: Dean Linnell, Dominic Pearson, Ian Dance and Luke Delahunty.
An animated Dominic Pearson summed up his experience by saying “I’ve had a brilliant day today, meeting all these other people who are disabled and wheelchair users, having the opportunity to get in a car and have a go around the track – while having a load of fun doing it. It’s been fantastic.” With the conclusion of the first ever StreetCar Disabled Driver Scholarship Day, the excitement does not stop here! We await to see these Yaris’ continuing to compete all across the country with their winners. Keep an eye on the StreetCar news page to see where these cars may end up.
