The First Scholarship Run

As the Loughborough Car Club grass Autotest season commenced on the 4th of June, our first StreetCar Disabled Driver Scholarship run of the year took place. The official handover of the Disabled Driver Scholarship Yaris occurred at MotoFest in Coventry to allow Ian Dance to have access to the car for a full season of AutoSOLOs.

On his first run, Ian was forced to adapt to some very tricky conditions as the rain prevailed and the Yaris was struggling with grip. Despite this, his driving ability continued to improve and he was clearly getting to ‘grips’ with competing on a different type of surface.

Richard Egger commented on his performance saying “there was some very tidy driving in conditions of near zero grip”

In his first grass Autotest, Ian managed to finish 8th in his class and 12th overall out of 30 starters, showing very promising signs for the rest of the season.

With the next grass Autotest set to take place on the 18th of June, we wait in anticipation to see how far Ian will progress. Find out how you can get involved in the competition by submitting your ‘get started’ form here.
